Introducing our Social Action Lead

October 10, 2023

Rhian Davies has been a long-standing colleague of ours helping to deliver project support for the health and wellbeing team. If you follow us on social media, you may have seen that she has taken on an additional role of Social Action Lead for Wirral.

As we explain on our Early Detection Engagement Programme page, the early detection programme for cancer is in partnership with CVS and Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance and will be running for 12 months. It will help raise awareness about the importance of early detection and empower people to go to screenings whilst also exploring some challenges and barriers people face as to why they may not go and get themselves checked. Finding cancer as early as possible not just saves lives, but also helps people receive better quality treatment as well.

Rhian is working collaboratively with community organisations, the other Cheshire & Mersey Social Action Leads as well as those in the voluntary sector to be part of and encourage discussions with people, so you are likely to see her at some local Wirral events. You may also see her in front of the camera in the near future – creating video content filled with advice, tips and what to look out for. We’ll let you know on our channels when those videos go live.

We go into more detail about why detecting cancer early is so important to people, to One Wirral and the NHS here.
