What can
be done to help?
The idea is
with the support of a patient led group we would like to create a small ‘Health
and Well-Being’ garden with outdoor furniture and a gazebo for people across
south Wirral with learning disabilities/autism.
We aim to
support the five ways of well-being for this group learning through working
with the garden. By connecting with others using the garden and reducing isolation
in a safe environment. Staying active by doing physical work and walking will
also help. As well as maintaining the garden for everyone to enjoy. Taking
notice by encouraging mindful practice and having sensory elements incorporated
in the space.
How we
can do it?
·
By
raising funds to rework land, build outdoor covering seats and work with
partners to build raising beds.
Why are
we doing this?
People with
learning disabilities and autism can struggle to wait and attend GP
appointments and can find it stressful.
We want to
offer patients the use of the gazebo to wait for appointments if they feel
uncomfortable to enter a GP surgery.
There is
limited dedicated outdoor space for people with learning disabilities in South
Wirral. We want to co-create a space that they can build community and enjoy.
