Macmillan HOPE Course
One Wirral CIC helped deliver Macmillan’s HOPE Course (Help Overcoming Problems Effectively). The ‘HOPE Course’ helps people manage the day-to-day impact cancer has on their lives and rediscover their strengths after treatment ends. Designed for people who have had cancer, regardless of the type, and then may have felt on their own after treatment, and who may be finding it difficult to cope with the long-term effects. It has helped individuals self-manage feelings such as anxiety, fatigue and allow them to address concerns for the future.
HOPE is an interactive, group based, self-management support course, which runs for 6 weeks, with each weekly session lasting 2.5 hours. This course is delivered within the community making it accessible for people to attend. Delivered by health and social care professionals, along with trained volunteers who have had a personal experience of cancer.
